When you work hard on your farm you can actually have an issue with ruts or moguls or if you use horses then hoof prints. Working the farm does not leave a good maple syrup farm trail.
You may want to be checking your farm maple syrup trees on your snowmobile. Much quicker than your tractor or your horses. Even though the horses are definitely more fun. Nothing like a horse team ride in the winter through the trees.
So here is what traffic can mean. Tractor and wagon ruts. Or hoof prints that freeze as clumps.
- smooth trails
- compact trails
- snow removal
- re-work old snow
The trail to get to your farm on the snowmobile can become whooped or mogulled. The way to solve this is a snow groomer.
If you have people you take out to see your beautiful farm. Then grooming the trails can make your place extra classy.
How to make a maple syrup farm trail?
How exactly do other maple syrup farmers groom the trails? We have many customers who do this. The most used groomer by Maple syrup farmers is our Sno master 72 with a razor and wings. This makes a wide enough trail to be wider than most wagons or sleighs. They can even pull it behind their sleigh, tractor, or work snowmobile.
Sometimes this is too big because guys have smaller trails to get to the farm. On the farm, the distance between the trees is plenty to pull the Snow Master 72. So for the personal snowmobile trails through the forest, a Snow master 48 or a path master is a better option.

If the snow is deep using the groomer to compact the snow just keeps the access nice and smooth. No backache from hitting ruts, horse digs or whoops. Grooming especially right after snowstorms helps keep the rough trails from forming.
A few farmers will cross country ski for exercise and check the farm out. These groomers can leave a perfect skate ski or cross-country ski trail.
Not sure if any of this is an issue on your Maple syrup farm trails? If it is then we hope that you look at our groomers to make your trails better.
