I must admit….snow grooming is one of my favorite activities in the world. There is nothing more satisfying than looking back to see level compact corduroy trails.

This causes problems sometimes because I don’t want anyone to use, walk on, or use my trails once they are groomed.

Now, let’s talk about grooming small trails.

Sometimes you have a trail or single track that you would like to also ski or bike on in the winter. We have small single-track or trail snow groomers that are 20″ wide but go up to 44″ wide.

First, we need to pick out what type of winter sports or activities that you plan on doing and snow grooming for. Second, we need to pick what type of snow machine you plan on towing your snow groomer with.

And third, if there is any special things your snow groomer needs to do like set in classic tracks.

Small Trail Snow Groomer Winter Activities

We have a couple of different options for the type of winter activity you plan on doing.

  • XC Skiing
  • Cross Country Skiing
  • Nordic Skiing
  • Downhill Skiing
  • Fat Biking
  • Walking or Snowshoeing

Small Snow Groomer Snow Machines

Towing your snow groomer around on the trails has a few different options for us to choose from. The main and most common option for towing snow groomers is snowmobiles, now this is not the only option just the most popular.

  1. Snowmobile
  2. Tracked ATV or UTV
  3. Snow Dog

This is what I recommend towing small compact snow groomers around on single-track trails.

One question we get from time to time is if our snow groomers can be towed under human power. The answer to this is yes they can but we don’t specifically design them to be towed by a human.

Setting in Classic Tracks

Now for the cross country, XC skiing, and Nordic skiers if you want to set in a classic track in the snow you need a special track setter that makes the tracks for the skis.

We call our classic track setter TRAKOR

xc trail maker

track setter for cross-country skiing

This classic track setter is 20″ wide and perfect for small trails. If your snow is wet and heavy make sure you add weight in the pan of the groomer to make sure you can properly set in the classic tracks for skiing.

TRAKOR can be outfitted with a DE-TRAKOR
