Electric Snowmobiles are still fairly new to the off-road world.  Additionally the cold can be especially hard on batteries.  That being said, there are some compelling new options when it comes battery powered rigs:

=================== Snowmobiles =====================

Skidoo and Taiga Motors make a 100% Electric snowmobiles.  Taiga’s specs say it can go up to 60 miles (I assume less while towing). Skidoo is half that.

======================= ATVs =======================

There are many electric ATV’s on the market or coming soon.  However, I do not know if there are track kits for any of them yet.  Here is a list of a few: https://www.webbikeworld.com/best-electric-atvs/

If you are interested in the ATV route, I can do more research to see if any have a track kit.  contact us as we try to keep up on this.  We have bought electric motorbikes and are trying to figure out when to recommend these as snow groom towing machines.

======================= UTVs =======================

Polaris makes a Ranger XP Kinetic Premium and Ultimate that are both 100% electric.  On their website, Polaris says the Premium gets 45 miles and the Ultimate gets 80 miles.

A few things I don’t know:

– Is there a track kit available for them yet?

– How does the cold impact the battery/range?

– How do the tracks impact the battery/range?

– How does towing a groomer impact the battery/range?

If you are interested in the UTV route, I can do more research on these questions.

Let us know about your electric snowmobile or UTV.

So two questions we’d have for you are:

– Which type of machine do you think you’d prefer to use: Snowmobile, ATV, or UTV?

– How many miles of grooming do you think you would typically be doing?

It sounds like the towing machine may be the most critical piece to figure out, due to the noise restrictions.  Once we determine what you will use to pull, we can narrow down which groomer will be best and get you some quotes.
